Connecting with hamlet hdsl8k2

Postby spada » Sat Aug 29, 2009 17:20

Hello guys, I own a hamltet hdsl8k2 USB and I'm trying to make it work whith Ubuntu 8.04. I saw on this forum another topic similar to mine, so I firstly tried the solution proposed here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3425&hilit=hdsl8k2
With the alexo's configuration I couldn't go through the 4th phase of the connection, and the message I always got was: modem hangup. I tried to change some settings, like SYNCH_ALTIFACE, PPPOECI_ALTIFACE and USE_DHCP, but the result was always the same. I tried all the syncs, whit the same result.
Finally I tried whit a binary sync created by myself, and whit the following configuration:
Code: Select all
VID1=0915
PID1=8104
VID2=0915
PID2=8104
MODE=VCM_RFC2364
VCI=35
VPI=8
FIRMWARE=/etc/eciadsl/firmware00.bin
SYNCH=/etc/eciadsl/gs7470_synch999.bin
PPPD_USER=narda
PPPD_PASSWD=
USE_DHCP=yes
USE_STATICIP=no
STATICIP=
GATEWAY=
MODEM=D-Link DSL200 generation III
MODEM_CHIPSET=GS7470
SYNCH_ALTIFACE=0
PPPOECI_ALTIFACE=0
PROVIDER=IT..Alice Telecom
DNS1=81.74.229.227
DNS2=151.99.125.1

I can pass the 4th phase, but the only message I get in the 5th is that: Waiting for ppp0...

Someone can help me? If you wish, here there's also the log of eciadsl-doctor:

Ps: according to lsusb, the chip should be a Globespan, but I opened the modem, and the brand of chip seems to be a conexant :S. Is that normal?

Hi spada,

The message you get from the 5th stage of eciadsl just indicates that everything has got fine.
When that message appears you are connected to your Adsl provider.
in a terminal window try: sudo eciadsl-testconnection
Here is the output with my connection:

Code: Select all

rtt min/avg/max/mdev = 46.862/46.862/46.862/0.000 ms

if you get an output similar to this one you can open your internet browser and surf the web.
have a nice navigation.

bye
