Installation/usage of EciAdsl driver under Linux

Postby guest » Mon Jun 18, 2007 15:31

It worked for me Synch 20 here in Palestine/Gaza..but never from the first time..

we use pppoe here..so it works sometimes when I remove user name and password from eciadsl.conf..sometimes..I remove the resolv.conf name server...sometimes when I change something in eciadsl.conf
It never works after reboot unless I try hard to get the tap0 btw I have dhcp connection..
so dont give up..it took me almost 10 days till I got the first connection work..
Now it takes about 10 min ;) depends how lucky I am at that day..

The secret is change values..
Remeber ..remove user name and password from eciadsl.conf if you use
dhcp..and try..:)
I tried ubuntu debian sid sidux pclinuxos...all are same regarding time of getting connection..
Thank you all..

I have Ubuntu 7.04 Kernel 2.6.20, D-link DSL200. eciadsl-start and eciadsl-doctor returns "Modem can't found". Patch for Kernel>2.6.18 is installed. Chipsets 7070 and 7470 approbing - result is the same. Here's log file with:
1) eciadsl-config-text (Configure all settings)
2) eciadsl-config-text (remove dabusb module)
3) eciadsl-start
4) eciadsl-doctor

Please forward me on the right way.

Dear SAABeilin, could you xplain how you did the *.bin file?

You see, I tried to use russian bins (Avangard), but they're don't up the tap0 interface... And all tries make own *.bin were not successfull.
I used native XP driver for this modem (from cd), but can't build the bin, error is
tj@TJ:/media/work/ftp/upload/1$ sudo eciadsl-vendor-device.pl usbsnoop.log -chipset=GS7470
[sudo] password for tj:
Can't open -chipset=GS7470: No such file or directory at /usr/local/bin/eciadsl-vendor-device.pl line 334, <> line 19.
WARNING: interrupt packet not detected! File 'gs7470_synch999.bin' was generated anyway but is probably incorrect.
tj@TJ:/media/work/ftp/upload/1$

If use it without -chipset, script gives only last line.

Driver: usermode_0.12 (built from source)

You should use last stable version (0.12), but I don't know what version of EciAdsl is in this distribution.

Hi all
If anyone is curious about chip's model that used in D-Link DSL-200/RU Generation III modems, here it is:

c o n e x a n t
AA4-7674-TCAZ
0603 SG
QC1359.02-BO
ARM

Though, ah, it did not work with v0.12 :(

Hi all.
I have a problem with synch on my DSL-200 rev. B1.
I tried all recommended synch files: gs7470_synch04.bin, 06, 17, but ADSL led just blinks and doesn't stay still.
I also tried to create my own .bin with sniffer and omg! first time I have synchronized and connected but that happened only once, all other tries were like with recommended .bins. And when I connected I couldn't ping anything, ping says 'Network is unreachable'. May be the problem is that I'm choosing wrong PPP mode, I'm not sure what is used by my provider.
Also, when I'm connecting with default synch01.bin ADSL led doesn't blink at all but after some time it lights up and stays like it got synchronized. Is it true? If so, the same result with network, it is 'unreachable'.

Well, finally I got connected! =)
I'm writing this under linux, not under windows =)
I used this doc http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/doc/dsl200.html and described connection method with rp-pppoe tool and it worked out.
But, about synchronization... I tried again recommeded synch files I mentioned before (NordKiller, you probably meant gs7470_synch06.bin not just synch06.bin, because it fails with glibc error) and none of them get synchronization once again. Then I tried my sniffed bin and after few unsuccessful tries, replugging modem etc, I finally got it! Btw, I changed PPPOECI_ALTIFACE to its default 5 and after that it seemed to me it get synchronization better. Does it have some influence on synch process or I'm mistaking and should leave 1 as recommended on modems page?
Anyway, it seems to me that synch process is pretty unstable thing, on windows it mostly passes well after first attempt, but on linux I have to made few attempts. And second thing, is the use of rp-pppoe is not mentioned in beginners guide, it assumes, that only eciasdl-start is enough to get connected to the internet. Is it normal practice to use rp-pppoe or it's exception? Or it depends on provider?

Yes, i mean gs7470_synch06.bin :smile:
rp_pppoe used then provider use PPPOE protocol.
you can see my topic about PPPOE here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3420

Yeah, I saw this topic, now I understand things better =)
I tried gs7470_synch06.bin many times but none of them was successful.
I also found that my own .bin always synchs well, it just depends on how long I will wait. I made about 20 attemps and none of them has been quit by timeout and sometimes I had to wait about 3-4 minutes for synch. Earlier, I just replugged modem after 1 minute waiting and restarted process.

BUT! I got another problem now. After successful synchonization I get tap0 interface listed by ifconfig very rarely! So it is clear that pppoe-start doens't connect. From mentioned 20 attempts I got tap0 only once or twice. Is that .bin problem?

Just now I also tried gs7470_synch14.bin and it works the same as my .bin: synch successful, but no tap0 again.
I have no idea what is the problem. Today I made about 50 connection attempts and haven't got the internet at all, so I had to write this under windows again =) .
Btw, do I need usb patch located here http://eciadsl.flashtux.org/download/be ... -usb.patch ? I suppose not, because my kernel version is 2.6.27, but may be it could help?
And here is my config, doubt it could be helpful, but anyway:

2 Stranger:

Tell me your Distr and version of Eciadsl.
Your provider use PPPOE?

1) Before connect try replug your modem to another USB port
2) If you have not static ip - try to set
Code: Select all
USE_DHCP=yes
USE_STATICIP=no
STATICIP=

3) If you have static ip - set:
Code: Select all
USE_DHCP=no
USE_STATICIP=yes
STATICIP=<your ip>

4)Try to use
Code: Select all
pppoe-connect

Postby sheikhbahaee » Sun Apr 12, 2009 23:24

Hello,
I have a D-Link dsl200 rev B modem and I could not install it in my linux(opensuse 10.3). I am novice user of linux and I need more detail to use your documents. Could you please give a complete and comprehensive instruction for installing my USB modem. I have the same problem with the question 1.2 in F.A.Q. EciAdsl webpage. I would be grateful if you explain more about the answer.
