DSL-200 modem and FreeBSD 5.3

Hi there,

I've recently installed FreeBSD 5.3 and have tried to use the Eciadsl driver.
I compiled the driver and this seemed to run ok but with some warnings.

I've tried to run eci-doctor.sh and some of the other scripts but all I get is an error message such as:

bash-2.05b# ./eci-doctor.sh
[: unexpected operator
You are using linux kernel version 5.3-RELEASE
./eci-doctor.sh: 48: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

I am completely new to FreeBSD so I don't know if there are any packages that I should install.

Any suggestions as to how to get the modem working?

You compiled BSD version available on our download page, right?
Try startmodem only, don't know if eciadsl-doctor.sh is ok for BSD...

I compiled the BSD version from your download page. I tried running startmodem and got the following error:

./startmodem: 38: Syntax error: "(" unexpected

I also tried running eciconftxt with the following result:

Every time I tried to enter my password it reports an unexpected error. Am I missing a package from my system or am I doing something wrong?
