mandrake 8.2 does not detect USB ECI modem

Installation/usage of EciAdsl driver under Linux

When I load the startmodem application
the system cannot detect the modem.

If I take a look at the file /proc/bus/usb/devices I get:

I think that the modem is detected by the system. The vendor ID is the same that the expected in the startmodem script, but the product ID 9999 is not the good one.

P: Vendor=0547 ProdID=9999 Rev= 1.00

The name of the driver that I have downloaded is usermode-0.4.tgz.

I have used "rmmod dabusb" before running startmodem.

Could you help me?

Thank you in advance.

obviously your rmmod dabusb was unsuccessfull because it your modem seems to be seen by linux as a sound system to remove correctly the module unplug your modem, rmmod dabus then replug it it should work much better
